CREED + BELIEFS

Made for PAX is an ecumenical Christian organization that serves believers across denominations, grounded in the Apostles’ Creed.

I believe in God,

the Father almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried;

he descended into hell;

on the third day he rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;

from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and life everlasting.

Amen.

PAX Beliefs + Values

At PAX, we are committed to uplifting, promoting, and celebrating Christians of color through mentorship and instruction. Rooted in the Latin word pax, meaning "peace," our mission is to foster a future where empowered Christians of color usher in peace and justice through their craft and call.

PAX VALUES

1. Peace as Presence
and Action

We believe that true peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the active presence of justice, reconciliation, and compassion. Inspired by the Franciscan call to be instruments of peace, we strive to embody Christ’s peace in our interactions and endeavors, fostering environments where healing and unity can flourish.

2. Justice Rooted in Love and Service

Drawing from Ignatian spirituality, we understand justice as a response to God's love—a call to serve others, especially the marginalized, and to work towards systemic change. Our commitment to justice is not passive; it is a dynamic force that propels us into action, guided by discernment and a deep sense of responsibility.

3. Contemplation Leading to Transformation

We embrace the Ignatian principle of "contemplation in action," recognizing that deep reflection and spiritual practices are essential for authentic transformation. Through prayer, spiritual direction, and communal discernment, we seek to align our actions with God's will, ensuring that our work is rooted in divine purpose and love.

4. Simplicity and Humility in Leadership

Echoing the Franciscan emphasis on simplicity and humility, we approach leadership with a servant's heart. We believe that true leadership is characterized by a willingness to serve others, to listen deeply, and to lead with integrity and compassion.

5. Celebrating Diversity and Community

We honor the diverse gifts and perspectives within our community, understanding that each individual contributes uniquely to the tapestry of God's creation. By fostering inclusive spaces where all voices are heard and valued, we strengthen our collective mission and witness to the unity found in Christ.

6. Joyful Gratitude and Hope

Rooted in the Franciscan tradition of joy and gratitude, we approach our work with a spirit of celebration and hope. We recognize the goodness in creation and the blessings in our lives, allowing these to fuel our passion for justice and our commitment to building a more equitable world.
